Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Every person in my ummah will enter Jannah, except those who refuse.” The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) asked, “O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Who are those who refuse?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Those who obey me (believe in me and follow my way) will enter Jannah (forever), and those who disobey me (they do not believe in me) have refused (hence they will remain in Jahannum forever).”
Hazrat Abu ‘Ubaidah (rahimahullah) reports from his father, Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The person who sincerely repents from a sin (and reforms his life) is like a person who has not committed the sin.”
Hazrat Ebrahim bin Mahdi As-Sulami (rahimahullah) narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, who was a Sahaabi of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “When Allah Ta‘ala wishes to bless a servant with a high rank that has been decreed for him (in Jannah), but the servant is unable to reach this high rank through his deeds and efforts, then Allah Ta‘ala brings about tests in his life and body, wealth, or his children. Allah Ta‘ala then blesses him with the taufeeq of sabr and enables him to exercise patience over this test, until Allah Ta‘ala causes him to reach the rank which Allah Ta‘ala had decreed for him.”
The Seven Classes of People who will be in the Shade of Allah’s Throne on the Day of Qiyaamah
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) report that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There are seven categories of people whom Allah Ta‘ala will enter into His special shade (i.e. the shade of His throne) on the day when there will be no shade besides His shade; the just leader, the youth who grew up in the worship and obedience of Allah Ta‘ala, the man whose heart would remain attached to the musjid, the two men who used to love each other, meet each other and separate from one another for the sake of (gaining) Allah’s love, the man whom a woman of high status and exceptional beauty invited to commit zina, yet he refrained and said, ‘I fear Allah’, the man who gave some sadaqah and concealed it, to the extent that his left hand did not know what his right hand had spent, and the man who remembered Allah Ta‘ala in seclusion and shed tears (out of the love and fear of Allah Ta‘ala).”
Hazrat Mu‘aaz bin Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever suppresses his anger, despite being able to vent and express it, Allah Ta‘ala will call him before the entire creation on the Day of Qiyaamah and honor him to the point where He will allow him to choose whichever maiden of Jannah he desires.”
Three People who will be Deprived of Allah’s Mercy on the Day of Qiyaamah
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There are three people whom Allah Ta‘ala will not look at (with the sight of mercy) on the Day of Qiyaamah; the one who would disobey his parents, the one who would remain addicted to wine (or intoxicants), and the one who gives charity to the poor and thereafter reminds them of his favor upon them.”
Hazrat Abu Sa’eed (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The trader who is completely honest and trustworthy will be (resurrected) with the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam), the siddeeqeen and the martyrs (on the Day of Qiyaamah).”
Exercising Moderation and Abstaining from Haraam in Earning a Livelihood
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There is no action that will draw you close to Jannah except that I have commanded you to carry it out, and there is no action that will draw you close to Jahannum except that I have prohibited you from perpetrating it. None of you should ever regard his sustenance to be delayed (as everything is destined to arrive at its time). Indeed Hazrat Jibreel (‘alaihis salaam) revealed wahi in my heart (from the side of Allah Ta‘ala) that none of you will leave the world until he receives his sustenance in full. Hence, fear Allah Ta‘ala, o people, and make your effort brief in seeking your livelihood (as everything that you will receive is predestined). If any of you regards his sustenance to be delayed then he should not seek it through an avenue whereby he will disobey Allah Ta‘ala, for indeed the grace (barakah in wealth) of Allah Ta‘ala cannot be acquired through engaging in sins.”
Hazrat ‘Ali bin Abi Taalib (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The person whose mashwarah (advice) is sought is entrusted (with the trust of advising correctly). Hence, when his advice is sought by anyone, he should advise that person with that which he regards best for himself (i.e. he should advise the person according to what he regards best for the person, just as he would choose the best for himself).”
Hazrat Aswad bin Yazeed (rahimahullah) mentions, “I asked Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), ‘What would Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) do when he was in the home?’ Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) replied, ‘He used to be engaged in the service of his blessed household (assisting them with household chores). However, when he would hear the azaan, he would immediately leave (for the musjid).’”

The Virtue of those Engaged in Seeking and Propagating the Knowledge of Deen
Hazrat Katheer bin Qais (rahimahullah) reports the following: I was once seated with Hazrat Abu Dardaa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the musjid of Damascus when a man came to him and said, “O Abu Dardaa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)! I have come to you from the city of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (i.e. Madinah Munawwarah) to acquire a Hadith which I was told that you narrate from Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). I did not come here for any other need or purpose besides acquiring this Hadith from you.”
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “If any servant of Allah Ta‘ala is afflicted by worry and grief and recites the following du‘aa, Allah Ta‘ala will remove his worry and replace his grief with happiness:
Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on one occasion, an old man arrived in the gathering of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). When the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) delayed in making space for this Sahaabi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) to sit (despite there being space), Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) corrected them saying, “He is not from among us who does not show mercy to our young, and does not honor and respect our old.”
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) mentioned the following: On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) addressed us and said, “O Muhaajireen! Five sins are such that when you become involved in them – and I seek Allah’s protection that you become involved in these sins (then the following five punishments of Allah Ta‘ala will befall you). When shamelessness (i.e. fornication, adultery and lewdness) becomes widespread among a people, to the extent that they carry out sins of shamelessness openly, then plagues and other diseases and epidemics, which never afflicted the people who passed before them, begin to spread among them. When people decrease in measure and weight (i.e. to deceive and cheat their customers when selling items that are sold by weight or measure) then they are afflicted by drought, difficulty of earning livelihood and oppression of rulers over them. When people refrain from discharging the zakaat due on their wealth then they are deprived of rain, and if it were not for the animals, they would not receive any rain at all. When people break the pledges of Allah Ta‘ala and his Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (i.e. the pledges that they make with the kuffaar e.g. peace treaties) then Allah Ta‘ala gives the enemy power over them, after which the enemy seizes the wealth which they possess. As long as the Muslim leaders do not rule according to the kitaab of Allah Ta‘ala and give preference to that which Allah Ta‘ala has revealed in His kitaab, Allah Ta‘ala will cause strife and inner fighting among the Musims (and they will not be united).”
