General Ahaadith (184)
Hazrat ‘Imraan bin Husain (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that a man once came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and greeted him saying, “Assalaamu ‘alaikum”. After replying to his salaam, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Ten (i.e. he has earned ten rewards)”. Thereafter, another man came and greeted Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saying, “Assalaamu ‘alaikum warahmatullah”. After replying to his salaam, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Twenty (i.e. he has earned twenty rewards)”. Finally, a third person came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and greeted him saying, “Assalaamu ‘alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh”. After replying to his salaam, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Thirty (i.e. he has earned thirty rewards)”.

Hazrat Jundub (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) has mentioned that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) narrated the following: A man (from among the previous ummats) said, “By Allah! Allah Ta‘ala will not forgive so-and-so person!” Allah Ta‘ala then said, “Who is this person who takes an oath by My name that I will not forgive so-and-so person? Indeed I have forgiven that person, and I have nullified all your good deeds (i.e. the good deeds of the one who had taken such an oath regarding Allah Ta‘ala not forgiving a certain person).”
It has been narrated from Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), the respected wife of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “O ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha)! Allah Ta‘ala is most compassionate, and He grants for compassion and kindness that which He does not grant for harshness, and that which He does not grant for any other action besides compassion and kindness.”
It is reported from Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever meets his Muslim brother in the manner which pleases Allah Ta‘ala (i.e. displaying good conduct or sharing something with him), in order to please him, Allah Ta‘ala will please him (in exchange of pleasing his brother through his good conduct, deed, etc) on the Day of Qiyaamah.”
Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) narrates that a person asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “My mother has indeed passed away suddenly (i.e. she did not experience any sickness prior to her death which indicated her death). I feel that if she had spoken (in her final stages), she would have (made a wasiyyat and) given sadaqah. Will she receive the reward of sadaqah if I give it on her behalf?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Yes.”
Muhill bin Khalifah At-Tai says, “I heard Hazrat ‘Adi bin Haatim (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mention the following: I was once with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) when two men came to him. One of them was complaining of poverty and the other was complaining of highway robbery. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to them, “As for highway robbery, then it will seldom befall you, until (a time will come when there will be so much of safety that) a caravan will depart from Makkah Mukarramah without anyone to protect it. As for poverty, then Qiyaamah will not occur until one of you will go around with his sadaqah, unable to find a person to accept it. (On the Day of Qiyaamah) one of you will definitely stand before Allah Ta‘ala, without any veil between him and Allah and without any translator to translate for him. Allah Ta‘ala will then say to him, ‘Did I not bless you with wealth?’ He will reply, ‘Certainly.’ Allah Ta‘ala will then say, ‘Did I not send a Rasul to you?’ He will again reply, ‘Certainly.’ He will then look to his right and will see nothing but the fire (of Jahannum), and he will look to his left and will see nothing but the fire (of Jahannum). Each one of you should thus save himself from the fire (of Jahannum), even if it be by (giving) half a date (in sadaqah). If he does not find (even this amount, to give in sadaqah), then (he should save himself from Jahannum by turning the beggar away) with kind words.’”
Hazrat Abu Maalik Ash‘ari (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Cleanliness is half of Imaan. ‘Alhamdulillah’ fills the scale, and ‘Subhaanallah wal Hamdulillah’ fills all that which is between the heavens and the earth. Salaah is a noor (inner light which will save one from sin), Sadaqah is a proof (of Imaan) and Sabr is a light (through which one will be guided). The Qur’aan is either a proof in your favor (by upholding its teachings) or against you (by violating its laws). All the people proceed (from their homes) in the morning (to the market), and then sell themselves (to Allah Ta‘ala, by fulfilling his commands) and free themselves (from Jahannum), and others destroy themselves (by selling themselves to Shaitaan through obeying him).”

Therefore, become successful by marrying a woman of piety. If you do not do this, your hands will be soiled (i.e. if you do not choose a pious wife, you will regret).”
Hazrat Abu Zar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Abstention from the Dunya is neither (for one) to regard that which is halaal as haraam, nor (for one) to dispose of (all his) wealth. Rather, true abstention from the Dunya is that your reliance on that which is in Allah’s hands is greater than your reliance on that which is in your hands, and when you are receiving reward for a calamity that is inflicted upon you (through being pleased with the decree of Allah Ta‘ala and making sabr over it), then you are more pleased and happy (with the decision of Allah and His reward) while undergoing the trial, compared to if the trial had to be removed and you had not experienced that condition.”
The Beautiful Behavior of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) has mentioned that it was the mubaarak habit of Rasulyullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) that whenever a person would meet him and clasp his hands (while making Musaafahah), Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would not remove his hands from the person’s hands until the person removed his hands, and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would not turn his face away from the person until the person turned his face away, and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was never seen sitting with his knees ahead of the knees of the person who was seated next to him (i.e. when seated in a gathering of people, and all the people sat facing the same direction (e.g. people seated in the saffs of Salaah), he always sat in line with the person next to him, and would ensure that his knees are not ahead of the person who sat beside him, so that he would not be distinguished and different from the rest of the people).

The Noble Character of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) has mentioned that apart from Jihaad, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) never hit anything with his blessed hand, neither a woman nor a servant. And if Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was harmed (verbally or physically) by any person, he never took revenge from that person on behalf of himself. However, if any law of Allah Ta‘ala was broken, he would seek retribution for the sake of Allah Azza wa Jall.”
Thuwair, the son of Abu Faakhtah (rahimahullah), narrates that Abu Faakhtah (rahimahullah) said, “Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) once held my hand and said, ‘Come with us to Hasan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) so that we may visit him in his illness.’ Then (on arriving at Hasan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu),) we found Hazrat Abu Musa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) present with him. (Seeing him,) Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) asked, ‘O Abu Musa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)! (What is your intention for coming to visit him?) Have you come to visit him on account of his sickness, or are you visiting him (for some other purpose)?’ Hazrat Abu Musa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) replied, ‘No (i.e. I am not visiting him for some other purpose). Rather, I am visiting him on account of his sickness.’ Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) thus said, ‘I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioning, ‘There is no Muslim who visits another Muslim who is sick, in the morning, except that seventy thousand Angels make du‘aa for him until the evening. And he does not visit a sick Muslim in the evening, except that seventy thousand Angels make du‘aa for him until the morning, and he will have a garden in Jannah.’’”
Holding Fast to the Majority and Salaah in the Musjid
Hazrat Mu‘aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Indeed Shaitaan is the wolf of humans, like the wolf of goats that seizes the goat which is distant and in a corner. Hence, you should refrain from (breaking up into) groups, and you should hold fast to the Jamaat (i.e. the congregational prayer in the musjid), the Muslim majority and the Musjid.”
Hazrat Zaid bin Thaabit (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports, “I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saying, ‘May Allah Ta‘ala bless that person with beauty who hears a Hadith from us, and thereafter memorizes it until he conveys it (to others). There are many who carry the knowledge of Fiqh (i.e. they are in possession of Ahaadith which relate to laws of Shari‘ah) and convey it to those who are more understanding than them, and there are many who carry the knowledge of Fiqh yet do not possess the understanding of it.”
