Rather, He will take it away through the death of the (rightly-guided) ‘Ulama. Eventually, when Allah has left no (rightly-guided) ‘Aalim (alive in certain places, even though there will be rightly-guided ‘Ulama in other places), then the people will take ignorant people as their leaders (in deen). When questions (pertaining to deen) will be posed to them, they will answer without knowledge. Hence, they will be astray, and they will lead others astray as well.”

One is death, whereas death is better (for a person) than falling into fitnah. The second is possessing less wealth (of the world), whereas possessing less wealth (of the world) will be a means of less accountability in the Hereafter.”

The second friend says, ‘I will remain with you, but when you reach the door of the king (i.e. when you pass away and meet Allah Ta'ala), then I will leave you (at that point).’ This friend refers to his servants and family. The third friend says, ‘I will remain with you, in whichever place you enter and from whichever place you leave (i.e. I will remain with you forever, no matter where you are).’ This friend refers to his actions.”
Acquiring the Knowledge of Deen from the Rightly-Guided Ulama
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mentioned, “People will remain upon righteousness, and will continue to be steadfast (on the straight path), so long as their knowledge of deen is acquired from the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) and from their learned, pious Ulama (i.e. those who are rightly guided and possess sound understanding of deen). When their knowledge of deen is acquired from people who are not knowledgeable, then they will be destroyed.”

The Happiness of Allah Ta‘ala at the Repentance of the Servant
Hazrat Haarith bin Suwaid (rahimahullah) reports that once, Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrated two Ahaadith. One Hadith was the Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), while the other was his own statement. Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “Indeed a believer views his sins as though he is seated beneath a mountain and he fears that it can fall on him at any moment, and indeed a sinful person (not concerned about his deen) views his sins as though it is a fly which passes by his nose (i.e. he considers it to be trivial and insignificant). He thus casually swats at it with his hand.” While narrating this Hadith, one of the narrators, Abu Shihaab (rahimahullah), explained the gesture of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) by him waving his hand above his nose.
