Nabi Aadam ('alaihis salaam) (9)

Allah Ta‘ala had blessed Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) with great honor and virtue. The special honor which Allah Ta‘ala bestowed upon him is that Allah Ta‘ala Himself had moulded his form and blew the rooh (soul) into his body. This honor is exclusive to Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) and was not granted to any other servant.

Thereafter, Allah Ta‘ala made Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) his vicegerent and commanded the angels to make sajdah before him. This sajdah was a sajdah of honour, not a sajdah of worship.

Ahd-e-Alast - Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) – Part Eight

Written by

In the Qur’aan Majeed, Allah Ta‘ala says:

And (mention the time) when your Rabb took out from the children of Nabi Adam (‘alaihis salaam) - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify about themselves, (saying to them), “Am I not your Rabb?” They said, “Yes, we have testified.” (This is) lest you should say on the Day of Qiyaamah, “Indeed, we were unaware regarding this.” (Surah A’raaf v. 172)

After Allah Ta‘ala created Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) and blew the rooh (soul) into him, Allah Ta‘ala said to him, “O Aadam! Go to that group of angels and greet them with salaam saying, ‘Assalaamu Alaikum.’ and thereafter listen to the reply that they give you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your progeny.”

Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) thus went to the angels and greeted them saying, “Assalaamu Alaikum.” Hearing the salaam, the angels replied saying, “Assalaamu Alaika Warahmatullah.” In other words, when the angels replied to the salaam of Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam), they added the words “Warahmatullah”. (Saheeh Bukhaari #6227 and Sunan Tirmizi #3368)

Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) Being Created in His Complete Form

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Allah Ta‘ala created Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) in his (complete) form, with his height being sixty ziraa (approximately twenty-seven meters).” (Saheeh Muslim #2841)

From this Hadith, we understand that Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) did not go through the different phases of growth that a normal human being passes through e.g. birth, infancy, adolescence, middle-age and thereafter old-age. In other words, Allah Ta‘ala created Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) as a complete person from the very beginning.

Shaitaan Examining the Mould of Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam)

It is reported in the Hadith that after Allah Ta‘ala fashioned the form of Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) and created his mould, He left it for some time before blowing the soul into it.

During this period, Iblees came to the lifeless mould of Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) and walked around it, closely examining it to see what it was and to determine its nature.

Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) – Part Four

Written by

In the Mubaarak Ahaadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioned that the angels were created from noor (celestial light), and the Jinn were created from fire, and man was created from soil. (Saheeh Muslim #2996)

In regard to the creation of man, it is reported that when Allah Ta‘ala intended to create Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam), He commanded the Angel of Death to collect the sand from different parts of the earth. (Mirqaat 1/176)

The wisdom behind Allah Ta‘ala appointing Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) to be His vicegerent on earth, instead of the angels, is that man has the ability to administrate and manage the affairs of the world.

The world and all its substances are harmonious and compatible to the human nature. Hence, in order for one to be able to administrate and manage the affairs of the world, he needs to be from the human species. Being the vicegerent of Allah Ta‘ala on earth means that man will have to fulfil the laws and injunctions of Allah Ta‘ala in the world and uphold justice among the creation. Man will have to execute punishments to people perpetrating crimes such as usurping the wealth of others, killing people, etc.

Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) – Part Two

Written by

WWhen Allah Ta‘ala informed the angels that He will be creating the human being and will place him in the earth as His deputy, then the angels enquired regarding the wisdom behind this. The angels also mentioned that the human being will spread corruption in the earth and will engage in bloodshed. Hence, the question arises as to how the angels knew that the human being would conduct in this manner.

Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) – Part One

Written by

Hazrat Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) was a prophet of Allah Ta‘ala. He was the first human being to be created, and hence he is the father of all mankind.

Before creating Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam), Allah Ta‘ala had created the Jinn and they were residing in the earth. After some time, they began to spread corruption in the earth and kill one another. Allah Ta‘ala then sent angels who fought these jinn and exiled them to the islands. (Tafseer Ibnu Katheer 1/127)
