Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

I once entered my home and found my aunt (mother’s sister), Su’daa, sitting among the household. My aunt would engage in soothsaying. The moment she saw me, she said:

أبشر وحييت ثلاثا وترا      ثم ثلاثا وثلاثا أخرى

ثم بأخرى كي تتم عشرا     لقيت خيرا ووقيت شرا

نكحت والله حصانا زهرا    وأنت بكر ولقيت بكرا

Accept glad tidings and congratulations thrice, then thrice more, and then thrice more And then once more to complete ten. You have encountered goodness and have been saved from evil By Allah! You have married an extremely chaste and beautiful woman. You are a virgin and you have married a virgin.

The ‘Ibaadah of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) – Part Two

Written by

‘Abdullah (rahimahullah), the son of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah), mentions:

I would often observe my respected father engaging in du‘aa at the time of sehri. He would make du‘aa for many people and would take their names when making du‘aa for them. He would make abundant du‘aa, and his du‘aa would be made in a soft voice.

Not being Concerned about the Negative Remarks of People

Written by

Yunus bin ‘Abdul A‘laa (rahimahullah) mentions the following:

Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) once said to me, “You will never be able to please and satisfy every person, and there is no way that you will be able to remain safe from the criticism and negative remarks of every person. Hence, do not be concerned about the negative remarks of people, but concern yourself with that which will benefit you and firmly hold onto it.”

Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) – Part Thirty

Written by

During the era of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), there was a need to extend Musjid-e-Nabawi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). For this purpose, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) required a certain plot of land that was adjacent to the musjid. Hence, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) approached an Ansaari Sahaabi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) who was the owner of this land and encouraged him to give it in the path of Allah for the musjid saying, “If you give this land for the musjid, you will receive a palace in Jannah.” However, the Ansaari Sahaabi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) did not wish to donate his land as he needed the land.

The Character of Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu):

Hazrat ‘Abdur Rahmaan bin ‘Uthmaan Al-Qurashi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) entered the home of his respected daughter, Hazrat Ruqayyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), while she was serving her husband, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), and washing his hair. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) addressed her saying, “O my beloved daughter! Serve your husband, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), well for he possesses excellent character and resembles me the most in sublime character from all my Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum).”

(Majma’uz Zawaa’id #14500, 14501)

Hazrat Khaalid (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continued:

When my father learnt that I had embraced Islam, he beat me so severely that my head was wounded. He broke a stick on my head and said, “You are following Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) who has opposed all the people! He speaks ill of our deities and depicts our forefathers as stupid and ignorant.” I responded, “By Allah! Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is absolutely true in what he is saying!”

Hazrat Khaalid bin Sa‘eed bin ‘Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was among the first people to embrace Islam. He was either the fourth or fifth Sahaabi to accept Islam.

Before accepting Islam, he saw the following dream. He says:

I dreamt that I was standing at the edge of a broad and deep pit filled with fire. My, father, Sa‘eed, wanted to push me into the pit. Suddenly, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) appeared, held me by the waist and pulled me away. I awoke from the dream saying, “By Allah, this dream is true!” I then proceeded to Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and related the dream to him. Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “Allah Ta‘ala intends to bless you with goodness. This is the messenger of Allah. Follow him and embrace Islam. Insha Allah you will follow Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and embrace Islam, and it is your Islam that will save you from falling into the fire. However, it appears as though your father is falling into the fire.”

Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:

I would come to the home of Hazrat Naafi’ (rahimahullah), the freed slave of Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma), at midday. The home of Hazrat Naafi’ (rahimahullah) was situated on the outskirts of Baqee’.

Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) – Part Twenty Eight

Written by

On one occasion, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) entered his pen and found his slave feeding fodder to a camel. On inspecting the fodder, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was not pleased with the manner in which the slave had prepared it and thus twisted his ear. After a little while, taking stock of his actions, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) became concerned and feared that he should not be taken to task for this action in the Hereafter.

The Islam of Hazrat Sa’d (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)

Written by

Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

Three nights before embracing Islam, I had a dream in which I saw that I was engulfed in extreme darkness. On account of the darkness, I was unable to see anything. Suddenly, a moon appeared and I began to follow it. I then saw that Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had preceded me in reaching this light.
