During the Mi’raaj, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) met Nabi Yusuf (‘alaihis salaam) in the third heaven. This meeting implied that like Nabi Yusuf (‘alaihis salaam), Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) will also suffer at the hands of his brothers, but he will ultimately prevail over them and forgive them for their wrongs.

Thus, on the day of the Conquest of Makkah Mukarramah, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) addressed the Quraish in the same manner that Nabi Yusuf (‘alaihis salaam) had addressed his brothers. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to the Quraish:

لَا تَثْرِيْبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ اِذْهَبُوْا فَأَنْتُمُ الطُّلَقَاء

There is no reproach (or blame) upon you today. May Allah Ta‘ala forgive you, and He is the Most-Merciful of those who show mercy. You may go, for you are all free!

Furthermore, when the ummah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) will enter Jannah, they will all have the beauty of Nabi Yusuf (‘alaihis salaam).

The meeting of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with Nabi Idrees (‘alaihis salaam) signified that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) will despatch letters to the rulers of the world inviting them to Islam, as Nabi Idrees (‘alaihis salaam) was the first person to write letters.

In addition to this, regarding Nabi Idrees (‘alaihis salaam), Allah Ta‘ala has mentioned in the Qur’aan Majeed, “And We raised him up to an elevated position.” Thus, meeting him was an indication that Allah Ta‘ala will also bestow Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with an elevated rank and lofty position. As a consequence, even the emperor of Rome was left awestruck when he received the letter of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Hence, in Saheeh Bukhaari, the statement of Abu Sufyaan is mentioned where he remarked (after leaving the court of the Roman emperor):

لقد أمر أمر ابن أبي كبشة إنه يخافه ملك بني الأصفر

“The affair of the son of Abu Kabshah (i.e. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)) has developed into something so enormous that even the king of the children of Asfar (i.e. the Roman emperor) fears him.”

(Extracted from Seeratul Mustafa 1/318)
