During the Mi’raaj, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) met Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) and Nabi Yahya (‘alaihis salaam) in the second heaven.

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioned in the mubaarak Hadith:

أنا أقرب الناس بعيسى بن مريم ليس بيني وبينه نبي

“(From all the Ambiyaa,) I am closest to ‘Isa bin Maryam. There is no Nabi between him and me.”

Furthermore, towards the latter times, Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) will descend from the skies to kill Dajjaal. Nabi Isa (alaihis salaam) will remain in the ummah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and will implement the Shari‘ah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) as a Mujaddid (revivalist).

On the day of Qiyaamah, Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) will appear before Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), with the entire creation, from beginning to end, and he will request Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to intercede to Allah Ta‘ala to commence the reckoning. It is for these reasons that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was made to meet Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam).

As for Nabi Yahya (‘alaihis salaam) accompanying Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) on this occasion, then it was merely due to their close family relationship, as both (Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) and Nabi Yahya (‘alaihis salaam)) were maternal cousins (i.e. their mothers were sisters).

This meeting of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) denoted the relentless harassment and persecution which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was going to receive from the side of the Jews. The Jews were going to leave no stone unturned in frustrating Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and they were going to devise a range of plans to assassinate him. However, just as Allah Ta‘ala protected Nabi ‘Isa (‘alaihis salaam) from their wicked schemes, similarly Allah Ta‘ala would also protect Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) from their evils.
