Loyalty to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and Islam

On the occasion of the Battle of Badr, the son of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat ‘Abdur Rahmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), was fighting on the side of the disbelievers as he had not yet accepted Islam.

Later on, after he accepted Islam, he once mentioned to his father, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), “During the Battle of Badr, I caught sight of you and you were within striking distance of my sword, but I turned away from you and refrained from attacking you (on account of you being my father).”

Hearing this, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) immediately responded, “However, had you appeared before me, I would not have turned away from you (i.e. I would have certainly attacked you, as you were fighting against the Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).”
