Hazrat Abu Ja’far Balkhi (rahimahullah) mentioned the following:
I heard that if Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) encountered difficulty in understanding any mas’alah and found the mas’alah to be complex and confusing, then he would address his students and say, “This difficulty can only be on account of a sin that I must have committed.” Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) would thus engage in istighfaar (repenting to Allah Ta‘ala). Sometimes, Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) would stand, make wudhu, perform two rakaats of salaah and thereafter repent to Allah Ta‘ala.
The First Muslim to Perform Hijrah with his Family:
Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had left for Abyssinia, performing Hijrah with his respected wife, Hazrat Ruqayyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), the blessed daughter of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). News of their condition was delayed, and hence Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) became concerned and would come out of Makkah Mukarramah, seeking information in their regard. Eventually, a woman came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and gave him information regarding them. On this occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) remarked, “Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) is the first person to perform Hijrah in the path of Allah Ta‘ala with his family after Nabi Lut (‘alaihis salaam).”

The Renovation of the Ka‘bah and Arbitration of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) – Part Six
Written by user2Following the allocation that had been made previously, each tribe individually gathered stones and began to build their section of the Ka‘bah. When the reconstruction was complete and it was time to insert the Hajr-e-Aswad (black stone) into its place, then a great dispute arose. Swords were unsheathed and people were prepared to fight and kill one another to acquire the honor of raising the stone to its place.
After four or five days passed in this state with no decision being made, Abu Umayyah bin Mugheerah Makhzoomi, one of the eldest members of the Quraish, suggested that the decision be made by the first person to enter the doors of the Haram the next morning. Everybody was pleased with this suggestion.

Marroozi (rahimahullah) mentions:
When Abu ‘Abdillah (Imaam Ahmed bin Hambal (rahimahullah)) would remember death, he would cry so excessively that he would be choked by tears. Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) would say, “At times, fear of the Hereafter prevents me from eating and drinking. When I think of death, every affair and difficulty of this world becomes easy for me to endure. The life of this world is nothing more than passing phases, wherein a person consumes one meal after the next and wears one set of clothing after the next. The life of this world only remains for a few days. I do not regard anything as virtuous (in assisting one to the Hereafter) as possessing less of the world. If I was able to, I would have not associated with people so that nobody would speak about me.”

Hijrah to Abyssinia:
After Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) accepted Islam, his uncle, Hakam bin Abil ‘Aas bin Umayyah, caught him and shackled him. He said to Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), “Have you turned away from the religion of your forefathers, accepting a new religion? By Allah! I will never release you until you forsake this new religion that you are following!” Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) replied, “By Allah! I will never leave this religion nor will I part from it!” Eventually, when Hakam saw the firmness and determination with which Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) adhered to Islam, he relented and released him.
Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had performed both migrations to Abyssinia with his respected wife, Hazrat Ruqayyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha).

Written by user2The next morning, Waleed was safe and sound. He thus took a shovel and proceeded to the Haram. People understood that Allah Ta‘ala approved of their action (of reconstructing the Ka‘bah) and thus everybody’s courage increased. Hence, they all gathered and worked together, with their hearts and souls, to accomplish this task. They continued digging until the original foundation laid by Hazrat Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam) became visible. When a man from the Quraish tribe attempted to dig the foundation of Hazrat Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam), a loud explosion was heard in the city of Makkah Mukarramah, due to which they immediately discontinued digging further. They then commenced building the Ka‘bah on the same original foundation.

Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) was once asked regarding Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah). Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) thus said the following:
Allah Ta‘ala favored us and blessed us with Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah). We would learn the verdicts of the various ‘Ulamaa and we would record the knowledge of their kitaabs until Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) came to us. When we heard Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) speak, we realized that he was blessed with more knowledge of Deen than others. We thus sat with him (to learn the knowledge of Deen) during the days and the nights, and we only saw every form of goodness from him.”
Dream before Islam:
Hazrat Yazid bin Roomaan (rahimahullah) narrates:
Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had proceeded, after Hazrat Zubair bin ‘Awwaam (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had accepted Islam, until they entered into the blessed presence of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) invited them to Islam, recited a portion of the Qur’aan Majeed to them, informed them of the rights of Islam and promised them to receive honor from Allah Ta‘ala if they upheld the Deen of Islam. They both brought Imaan and accepted the message of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Written by user2After these initial stages of preparation, when it was time to demolish the original structure, nobody had the courage to stand and break down the house of Allah. Eventually, Waleed bin Mugheerah, took a shovel, stood and proclaimed before Allah Ta‘ala:
اللهم لا نريد الا الخير
O Allah! Our intentions are nothing but good (i.e. our intention in breaking the divine house is not evil – Allah forbid)!
Hazrat Yahya (rahimahullah) reports:
We (the students of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah)) would gather at the door of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah). Once we had all gathered, a person would announce, “The people of Madinah Munawwarah should first enter.” After the people of Madinah Munawwarah would enter, this person would make an announcement for the other students to enter. Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) would thereafter enter and make salaam, after which he would remain silent. We would also remain silent in the presence of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) for some moments (before the lesson would commence).

Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continued:
By Allah! Just a few moments later, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) passed by with Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) who was carrying a cloth for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). When Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) saw him, he stood and went to him. He then spoke quietly into the blessed ear of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), after which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) came and sat. After sitting, he turned to me and said, “O ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)! Accept the invitation which Allah Ta‘ala is giving you to His Jannah, as I am indeed the messenger of Allah Ta‘ala to you and to His entire creation.”

Written by user2In order to avoid any person being deprived of the noble task of reconstructing the Ka‘bah, the reconstruction was distributed among the various clans. Hence, each portion of the Ka‘bah was assigned to a different clan.
The portion near the door was assigned to the Banu ‘Abd-e-Manaaf and the Banu Zuhrah. The area between the Hajr-e-Aswad and Rukn-e-Yamaani was allocated to the Banu Makhzoom and other tribes of the Quraish. The rear portion of the Ka‘bah was allocated to the Banu Jumah and the Banu Sahm, whilst the Hateem section was assigned to the Banu ‘Abd-ud-Daar bin Qusayy, ibn Asad and the Banu ‘Adi.
Abu Mu’ayyid Khawaarizmi (rahimahullah) narrates that Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mubaarak (rahimahullah) said, “On one occasion, a few goats were stolen in Kufah. On hearing of this, Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) enquired about the average age of a goat. When he was informed that goats normally live for up to seven years, he abstained from eating goat meat for seven years.”
Note: According to the Hanafi Mazhab, it is permissible for one to purchase a goat from the market in which a few goats were stolen when the majority of the goats in the market is of halaal sources and one does not have proof that the goat which he is purchasing is from the stolen goats. However, Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah), in his individual capacity, exercised extra caution and refrained from purchasing goats for seven years.

Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continued:
I then left my aunt. Her statements had left an impression on my heart and I continued to ponder over what she had said.
I would sometimes associate with Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and sit with him. After Monday had passed, I came to sit with him and found him seated alone. On sitting with him, he noticed that I was in deep thought. Being a very soft-natured person, he asked me what the matter was. I replied by mentioning to him the statements that my aunt had made. Hearing this, he exclaimed, “O ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)! May Allah have mercy on you! You are an intelligent, foresighted man. You are able to discern between truth and falsehood. These idols which your people worship – are they not (made of) mere stone that is deaf, unable to hear, see, harm or benefit?” I replied, “Most certainly! By Allah! They are definitely as you described!”
