History (697)
Islam:
(Continuing from Part four)
Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continued:
I was astonished and perplexed at what my aunt had said, and so I asked her, “O aunt! What are you saying?” She replied by reciting the following couplets:
عثمان يا عثمان يا عثمان لك الجمال ولك الشان
هذا نبي معه البرهان أرسله بحقه الديان
وجاءه التنزيل والفرقان فاتبعه ولا تغيا بك الأوثان
‘Uthmaan! O ‘Uthmaan! O ‘Uthmaan! You have been blessed with beauty and you have been blessed with prestige.
This is a Nabi with whom there are clear proofs and signs. The Lord of recompense has deputed him with the truth.
The word of Allah is revealed to him, which distinguishes between truth and falsehood. So follow him and do not allow the idols to misguide you.
The Renovation of the Ka‘bah and Arbitration of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) – Part Two
Written by user2The third reconstruction of the Ka‘bah occurred five years before the prophethood of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) when he was thirty-five years old. On this occasion, it was the Quraish who reconstructed the Ka‘bah.
The original structure erected by Nabi Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam) was roofless and the walls were not very tall, being just above the average height of a man, approximately nine hands in height. Over the passage of time, the structure had become old and was in need of reconstruction. Due to it lying on low ground, all the rainwater would flow into the structure and fill it. This is why the Quraish decided to rebuild the Ka‘bah.
The Abstinence of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) – Part Two
Written by user2Imaam Ishaaq bin Raahwayh (rahimahullah) once mentioned, “When Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) was travelling to study Hadith under Imaam ‘Abdur Razzaaq (rahimahullah), his wealth depleted and ran out. He thus hired himself to some camel drivers (and worked for them while travelling) until he reached San‘aa. The companions of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) had offered to share their wealth with him, but he had refused to accept it.
(Siyar A’laam min Nubalaa vol. 9 pg. 458)
Islam:
‘Amr bin ‘Uthmaan (rahimahullah) narrates that Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had mentioned the following when explaining to them the manner in which he accepted Islam:
Respect for the Neighbors of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)
Written by user2Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) had a doorkeeper who would announce when people would arrive and seek permission for them to enter. When people would gather at the door of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) (to learn the mubaarak Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)), Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) would instruct the doorkeeper to call them in. Permission would first be granted to certain special students of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) to enter. Thereafter, permission would be given for other people to enter.
Physical Description:
Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was neither too tall nor too short (i.e. he was of moderate height), and was blessed with a handsome face. His beard was large and he had a fair, wheat-colored complexion. He was large-jointed and broad-shouldered. He would dye his hair yellow.
(Siyar A’laam min Nubalaa vol. 2 pg. 567)
The Companion of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in Jannah:
Hazrat Talhah bin ‘Ubaidillah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Every Nabi will have a special friend (in Jannah), and my special friend (in Jannah) will be Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu).”

The Renovation of the Ka‘bah and Arbitration of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) – Part One
Written by user2From the beginning of the world until this present era, the Ka‘bah was reconstructed five times.
Initially, it was constructed by Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam). Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin ‘Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Allah Ta‘ala sent Hazrat Jibraa’eel (‘alaihis salaam) to command Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) to build the Ka‘bah. When Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) completed building the Ka‘bah, he was instructed to walk around it in tawaaf. He was also informed, ‘You are the first man and this is the first house erected for people to worship Allah Ta‘ala.’”
Marriage to Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) – Part Three
Written by user2At the time of his blessed nikaah to Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was twenty-five years old whilst Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was forty. The mahr (dowry) was fixed at twenty camels. However, according to Seerat Ibn Hishaam and Hafiz Abu Bishr Dawlaami (rahimahullah), the stipulated mahr (dowry) was twelve and a half ooqiyah of silver. Each ooqiyah is equivalent to forty dirhams. Hence, the total dowry was five hundred dirhams. This was the first nikaah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) whilst it was Hazrat Khadijah’s (radhiyallahu ‘anha) third.
Insha Allah, we will discuss this in more detail in the chapter pertaining to the Azwaaj-e-Mutahharaat (the blessed wives of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Marriage to Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) – Part Two
Written by user2On the decided date of the nikaah, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) proceeded to the home of Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) with his uncles, Abu Taalib and Hazrat Hamzah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), and a few other seniors of the family. The father of Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) had passed away before the battle of Fujjaar. Her uncle (father’s brother), ‘Amr bin Asad, was present at her nikaah.
Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:
True ‘Ilm creates steadfastness upon Deen, and the outcome of steadfastness upon Deen is that one will be safeguarded (from falling into sin and wrong). True abstinence of the world creates contentment, and the outcome of contentment is that one will enjoy peace and comfort. True sabr creates determination, and the outcome of determination is that one will eventually reach his goal. The ability to carry out righteous deeds is in actual fact the taufeeq of Allah Ta‘ala, and the outcome of taufeeq is that one will be successful (in acquiring the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala and Jannah), and every good by Allah Ta‘ala is based on truthfulness.
(Siyar A’laam min Nubalaa vol. 8 pg. 393)

A woman once came to Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah), wishing to purchase a silken cloth. When Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) showed her a certain cloth, she said to him, “I am a weak woman, and it is an amaanah (with which I have been entrusted to purchase this cloth), so please sell me this cloth for the amount that it costed you.” Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) immediately said to her, “Take it for four dirhams.” The woman could not believe that Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) was prepared to sell her the silken cloth for such a low price, and thus exclaimed, “Do not joke with me, as I am an old woman!”
Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) explained to her, “I purchased two cloths. I sold one of the two cloths for a price which covered the entire capital with which I purchased both cloths besides four dirhams. Hence, this cloth now remains with only four dirhams of the capital amount outstanding. (Therefore, I have sold the second cloth to you for four dirhams.)”
(Akhbaar Abi Hanifah wa Saahibayhi lis-Saymari pg. 50-51)
A woman once came to Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) with a silken cloth and said to him, “Please sell it for me (as I am not experienced in trade. Hence, I wish you to assist me in correctly evaluating it and selling it to someone who wishes to purchase it from me).” Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) asked the woman, “How much were you advised to sell the cloth for?” The woman replied, “One hundred.” Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) remarked, “It is worth more than one hundred!”
Title:
The title of Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was ‘Zun-Noorain’ (the possessor of the two lights). ‘Two lights’ referred to the two blessed daughters of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Ruqayyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) and Hazrat Ummu Kulthoom (radhiyallahu ‘anha).
Hazrat Hasan Basri (rahimahullah) has explained that Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was given this title as he was the only person who had married two daughters of a Nabi (Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) married Hazrat Ummu Kulthoom (radhiyallahu ‘anha) after the demise of Hazrat Ruqayyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha)). (Siyar A’laam min Nubalaa 2/566/568)
Marriage to Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) – Part One
Written by user2Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) went to Waraqah bin Nawfal and explained to him the incidents that transpired during the journey of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), the statement of the monk and the manner in which the angels were shading him. Waraqah remarked, “O Khadijah! If these incidents are true, then most certainly Muhammed is the prophet of this ummah. I am well aware that a Nabi will come to this ummah whom we are awaiting and whose arrival is imminent.”
After hearing of these incidents, the desire entered the heart of Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) to marry Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Hence, two months and twenty five days after his arrival from the Syrian trade journey, she sent a proposal to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). After consulting his uncle, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) accepted this proposal.
