Acceptance in the Field of Hadith at a Young Age
Allah Ta‘ala had blessed Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) with special acceptance and mastery in the field of Hadith from a young age. Such was his acceptance that despite his young age, many people flocked to him to benefit from him, and even some of the senior Muhadditheen of the time came to him to listen to him narrating Ahaadith.
Haashid bin Ismaa‘eel (rahimahullah) mentions that during the period of his youth, while Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) was in Basrah, the Ulamaa of Basrah would hasten to him, requesting him to narrate Ahaadith to them. They would earnestly request him to narrate Ahaadith to them until he would eventually relent and begin narrating Ahaadith to them.
As Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) would be narrating, thousands of people would throng to his gathering, eager to hear the Mubaarak Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) from him, and among these people, there was a great number of senior-ranking Muhadditheen. (Siyar A’laamin Nubalaa 12/408)
In Makkah Mukarramah, there once lived a man named Ibnu Thaabit (rahimahullah). He used to perform haj every year, and thereafter used to travel to Madinah Munawwarah to present salaam at the blessed grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). He did this for seventy years consecutively.
Once, it so happened that for some reason, he could not go to Madinah Munawwarah to visit the grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). While remaining at home, seated in his room, he was overcome by sleep. While asleep, he saw Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saying to him in a dream, “O Ibnu Thaabit! This year, you did not come to meet me. For this reason, I have now come to meet you.”

The Hijrah of Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) – continued
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had escaped from the kuffaar and set out for the hijrah during the night. The following morning when Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) emerged from the home of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), the disbelievers asked him regarding the whereabouts of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) told them that he did not know.
The Inspirational Sermon of Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Court of Najaashi – Part Three
Written by user2Hazrat ‘Aaishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Najaashi’s father was the Emperor of Abyssinia. He had no other son besides Najaashi, while his brother (Najaashi’s uncle) had twelve sons.
Since Najaashi was the only son of his father, while the Emperor’s brother (Najaashi’s uncle) had many children, some of the people of Abyssinia thought of killing the Emperor and making his brother the Emperor. They felt that since his brother has many children, rulership will remain in the same family for a longer period of time. Hence, they killed the Emperor and made his brother the Emperor.
The Marvellous Memory of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah)
Haashid bin Ismaa‘eel (rahimahullah) mentions the following:
When Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) was still a young boy, he would accompany us when we would attend the lessons of the great Muhadditheen of Basrah to learn Hadith. However, he would merely listen to the Muhadditheen narrating and would not write any of the Ahaadith that they narrated.
WWhen Allah Ta‘ala informed the angels that He will be creating the human being and will place him in the earth as His deputy, then the angels enquired regarding the wisdom behind this. The angels also mentioned that the human being will spread corruption in the earth and will engage in bloodshed. Hence, the question arises as to how the angels knew that the human being would conduct in this manner.
The Hijrah of Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) – continued
After Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) left his home, undetected by the disbelievers, the disbelievers continued to wait outside his home, thinking that he was still inside.
While they were waiting outside the home of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), a person came to them and asked, “Who are you waiting for in this place?” The disbelievers replied, “We are waiting for Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).” The man exclaimed, “May Allah make you unsuccessful! By Allah! Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has already left his home, and he has scattered sand on the head of every one of you. He has left and is going wherever he needs to go. Can you people not see what has happened to you?”
The Inspirational Sermon of Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Court of Najaashi – Part Two
Written by user2When ‘Amr bin ‘Aas and ‘Abdullah bin Abi Rabee‘ah emerged from the royal court, after failing to convince the Emperor to hand the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) over to them, then ‘Amr bin ‘Aas said, “Tomorrow, I will stand before the Emperor and mention something which is such that on hearing it, he will completely destroy these Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum).”
‘Abdullah bin Abi Rabee‘ah said to him, “Don’t ever do that! We have family ties with them! They are our relatives, even though we oppose them as far as our religion is concerned!” However, ‘Amr bin ‘Aas was adamant and determined.
Acquiring the Knowledge of Hadith from a Young Age
Muhammed bin Abi Haatim (rahimahullah) narrates the following:
I once asked Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah), “How did you commence memorizing Hadith?” Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) replied, “I was inspired by Allah Ta‘ala to commence memorizing the blessed Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) when I started acquiring ‘ilm at the elementary madrasah.” I asked him, “What was your age at the time?” He replied, “I was ten years old, or perhaps even younger.”
Hazrat Thaabit bin Ahmed, Abul Qaasim Baghdadi (rahimahullah), relates that he once saw a mu’azzin calling out the azaan for fajr salaah in Musjid-un-Nabawi.
When the mu’azzin called out, “Assalaatu khairum minan nowm” (indeed salaah is better than sleep), a person came up to him and gave him a hard slap. The mu’azzin began to weep and exclaimed, “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Look at what is being done to me in your mubaarak presence!”

The Hijrah of Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) – continued
On the night when the disbelievers intended killing Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), they surrounded his house and remained outside, waiting for him to emerge.
Initially, the disbelievers intended to climb over the wall and enter the house to assassinate Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). However, they heard a voice from within the house and thought it to be the voice of a woman. Hence, according to the custom of the Arabs at that time, they felt it disrespectful to enter the home and kill a man before his womenfolk. Thus, they decided that they would wait outside the house and kill Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) when he emerged. (Rowdh-ul-Unf 2/309)
The Inspirational Sermon of Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Court of Najaashi
Written by user2Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) addressed Najaashi and said:
“O Emperor! Prior to the advent of Islam, we were all ignorant and unaware of the true path. We would worship idols and consume carrion. We were involved in various types of shameless actions. We would sever family ties and ill-treat our neighbors. The strong among us would oppress and take advantage of the weak.
The Mother of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah)
During his childhood, Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) lost his eyesight and became blind. The mother of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) continued to turn to Allah Ta‘ala in du‘aa, begging Him to cure her son and restore his eyesight.
One night, when she went to sleep, she had a dream. In the dream, she saw Hazrat Nabi Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam). Nabi Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam) addressed her and said, “Allah Ta‘ala has cured your son and restored his eyesight on account of the excessive du‘aa that you made for him.”
The following morning, when Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) awoke, his eyesight had been restored and he could see once again.
(Hadyus Saari pg. 478)
Hazrat Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) was a prophet of Allah Ta‘ala. He was the first human being to be created, and hence he is the father of all mankind.
Before creating Nabi Aadam (‘alaihis salaam), Allah Ta‘ala had created the Jinn and they were residing in the earth. After some time, they began to spread corruption in the earth and kill one another. Allah Ta‘ala then sent angels who fought these jinn and exiled them to the islands. (Tafseer Ibnu Katheer 1/127)
