Tubba’, the King of Yemen, Passing Madinah Munawwarah

Written by

It is mentioned that when Tubba’, the King of Yemen, had passed by the land of Madinah Munawwarah (long before the blessed era of Rasulullah [sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam]), he was accompanied by four hundred Ulama of the Tauraah. On seeing the land of Madinah Munawwarah, all the Ulama addressed the king and presented the following request to him saying, “Please permit us to settle down in this land.”

When the king enquired the reason for them wishing to settle in this land, they replied, “We find it written in the scriptures of the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam) that towards the end of time, a Nabi will be born. His name will be Muhammed, and this region will be his Daar-ul-Hijrah (the place to which he will migrate and settle).”

Staying Among the Banu Najjaar Clan

Written by

When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) entered Madinah Munawwarah on the occasion of the hijrah, mounted on his camel, then every resident of Madinah Munawwarah desired to host and entertain Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in his home.

However, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to the people, “This camel is commanded from the side of Allah Ta‘ala to go where Allah Ta‘ala wants. Wherever she sits down with the decree of Allah, that is where I will stay.”

Accordingly, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) left the reins absolutely loose. He would not even nudge the animal with his blessed hand in any direction.

Entry into Madinah Munawwarah – Part Two

Written by

Hazrat Baraa bin Aazib (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says, “I never saw the people of Madinah Munawwarah extremely happy over anything as much as they were overjoyed over the arrival of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).”

Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says, “When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, then out of happiness and delight at his arrival, the Abyssinians displayed their skill of spear throwing.”

Entry into Madinah Munawwarah

Written by

Upon the completion of the Jumu’ah in Banu Saalim, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mounted his camel and continued in the direction of Madinah Munawwarah. He seated Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) directly behind him on the camel. A vast number of the Ansaar, armed with their weaponry, were walking to his right, to his left, in front of him and behind him.

The khutbah (sermon) which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) delivered on the occasion of the first Jumuah which he performed – the Jumu’ah in Banu Saalim - was such that its every word was saturated in eloquence, its every letter was a cure for spiritual maladies and a source of life for the spiritually dead hearts, and its every word was sweeter and more enjoyable than exquisite wine. The words of this khutbah are as follows:

(الحمد لله) أحمده وأستعينه وأستغفره وأستهديه وأؤمن به ولا أكفر وأعادي من يكفره

“All praise is due to Allah. I glorify Him, I beseech His assistance, I beg His forgiveness and I plead to Him for His divine guidance. I bring imaan in Him and I do not disbelieve in Him, and (in fact,) I oppose those who disbelieve in Allah.”

On the occasion of the hijrah, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) arrived in Quba before coming to Madinah Munawwarah. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) stayed in Quba for a few days, after which he mounted his camel and departed for Madinah Munawwarah on a Friday.

On the road from Quba to Madinah Munawwarah lies the locality of Banu Saalim. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) reached Banu Saalim at the time of Jumu’ah, and hence Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) performed the Jumu’ah here. This was the first Jumu’ah khutbah and Jumu’ah salaah which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) performed in Islam.

The Foundation of Musjid-ut-Taqwa (Musjid-e-Quba)

Written by

After arriving in Quba, the very first task which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) undertook was the laying of the foundation of a musjid. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) carried a stone with his own blessed hands and placed it in the direction of the Qiblah.

After Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) placed the first stone, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and then Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) also placed a stone each in the same direction. Thereafter, the other Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) began to bring and place stones. In this manner, the construction of the musjid commenced.

Arrival in Quba

Written by

The delightful news of Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) departure and his imminent arrival in Madinah Munawwarah had already reached the inhabitants of Madinah. Out of the eagerness and yearning to see Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), every single individual of Madinah Munawwarah would come and await his arrival at a place called Harrah (on the outskirts of Madinah). They would remain waiting until midday, after which they would return to their homes. This was their daily routine.

After meeting Hazrat Suraaqah bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and his companions continued on the journey of hijrah. As they proceeded ahead, Buraidah Aslami, was also searching for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with seventy other riders, just as Hazrat Suraaqah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had been searching for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Buraidah Aslami also desired to acquire the reward of one hundred camels offered by the Quraish for capturing or killing Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
