Hearing this, the king allowed them to settle down there. He constructed a separate house for each one of them, got them all married, and gave each one of them a large amount of wealth. He also erected a home specifically for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), with the intention that when Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) migrates to this area, then he should reside in this home.
The king even wrote a letter and addressed it to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in which he expressed his Islam and his ardent desire to meet and see Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). The letter contained the following words:
شهدت على أحمد أنه رسول من اللّٰه باري النسم
I bear testimony that Ahmed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is the messenger of Allah Ta‘ala - the Creator of the creation.
فلو مد عمري إلى عمره لكنت وزيرا له وابن عم
If my lifespan continues until the time he appears, then I will definitely become his supporter and devotee.
وجاهدت بالسيف أعدآءه وفرجت عن صدره كل غم
I will wage war against his enemies with the sword, and I will eliminate all grief and sorrow from his heart.
Tubba’, the king, then sealed the letter with a royal seal and entrusted it to one of the Ulama saying, “If you are alive in the era of this final messenger, then hand this letter of mine to him. Otherwise, hand it over to your children, and tell them to convey it to the final messenger on my behalf.”
Hazrat Abu Ayyoob Ansaari (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was a descendant of this very same Aalim, and his house was the very same house which Tubba’, the king of Yemen, had constructed for the sole purpose of the final messenger residing in it after performing hijrah. The Ansaar of Madinah Munawwarah were the descendants of these four hundred Ulama.
Therefore, with the command of Allah Ta‘ala, the camel went and halted at the door of the very same house which Tubba’ had constructed for the sake of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
It is mentioned that on the arrival of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in Madinah Munawwarah, Hazrat Abu Ayyoob Ansaari (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) presented the letter of the king, Tubba’, containing the verses of poetry he composed, to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (and Allah Ta‘ala knows best).
