Durood Shareef
Hazrat Abu Zar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports, “Conveying salaat and salaam (salutations) upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was also prescribed in this year - the second year of Hijrah.”
According to some Ulama, this commandment was enjoined on the night of Mi’raaj.
Zakaat on Wealth
The Ulama have differed as to exactly when the annual zakaat was enjoined. The majority of the Ulama hold the view that it was prescribed after the Hijrah. Some Ulama say it was in the first year while others maintain that it was in the second year of Hijrah after the fast of Ramadhaan was made fardh.
Allaamah Iraqi (rahimahullah) has mentioned the following couplets (explaining some of the important events which transpired in the year 2 AH):
وفيه فرض الصوم والزكاة للفطر والعيدين بالصلاة
بخطبتين بعد والأضحية كذا زكوة مالهم والقبلة
للمسجد الحرام والبناء بعائش كذلك الزهراء
In this year (2 AH), the fast of Ramadhaan, discharging the sadaqatul fitr, performing the two salaahs of eid with their khutbahs, carrying out qurbaani, discharging zakaat for the wealth were all ordained, similarly the qiblah turning (from Bayt-ul-Muqaddas) to Bayt-ul-Haraam, and the binaa of Hazrat Aaishah and Hazrat Faatimah Zahraa (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) also took place (i.e. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) commenced living with Hazrat Aaishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), and similarly Hazrat Faatimah Zahraa (radhiyallahu ‘anha) got married to Hazrat Ali [radhiyallahu ‘anhu] in the year 2 AH).
