One day, after they had spent the morning waiting and were now departing, a Jew, who was atop one of the hillocks of Madinah, caught sight of the blessed appearance of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and spontaneously called out:
يَا بَنِيۡ قَيْلَهْ هٰذَا جَدُّكُمۡ
“O children of Qailah (Qailah was one of the ascendants of the Ansaar)! Here comes your source of good fortune and blessings!”
The moment the Ansaar heard this delightful news, they ran to welcome and receive him with ecstatic joy, and the entire locality of Bani Amr bin Awf reverberated with the cries of Takbeer.
Approximately three miles (south of) Madinah Munawwarah is a locality called Quba in which a few families of the Ansaar resided. The main inhabitants of Quba were the family of Amr bin Awf, and the leader of this family was Kulthoom bin Hadam.
When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) arrived in Quba, he stayed at the home of Kulthoom bin Hadam, while Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) stayed at the home of Khubaib bin Isaaf.
The Ansaar would come to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in droves, from all around the vicinity. Out of their deep respect, they would present themselves before him to make salaam to him with deep love and passion.
After the departure of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) from Makkah Mukarramah, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) remained in Makkah for another three days. At the time when Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had departed from Makkah Mukarramah for the hijrah, he had made over to Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) all the trusts which people had left with him for safekeeping. During these three days, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) returned all the trusts to their respective owners, after which he also set out for Madinah Munawwarah.
On arriving in Quba, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) also stayed in the home of Kulthoom bin Hadam with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
