After making salaam at the Rawdhah Mubaraak, when I returned, I found that I had lost the key to the room containing my kitaabs. I searched for the key in all the places which I had recently been to, but I failed to find the key. The loss of the key, at that time, when I urgently required it, affected me greatly, and so I presented myself before Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at the Rawdhah Mubaarak and said, “O my master! O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! The key to the private room has disappeared. I urgently require it, and I wish to recover it from your door (i.e. through your interceding to Allah Ta‘ala for me to recover the key)!”
I then returned and saw a person heading in the direction of the private room. I thought this person to be someone that I recognized, and so I walked towards him, but on coming to him, I found that he was not the person that I had thought. Rather, he was a child that I did not recognize.
This child was standing near the door of the private room and was holding the key to the room in his hand. On seeing the key, I was astonished and asked him, “Where did you find this key?” He replied, “I found it at the Rawdhah Mubaarak, at the head side of the blessed grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).” I then took the key from him.
