1. After Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) left Quba and arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, Hazrat Kulthoom bin Hadam (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) passed away. He was the Sahaabi in whose house Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) resided during his stay in Quba.

2. Even before Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) could complete the construction of Musjid-un-Nabawi, Hazrat As’ad bin Zuraarah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), the head of Banu Najjaar clan, passed away. The Banu Najjaar appeared before Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and requested, “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Appoint someone as his successor to be the head over us.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “You are my maternal family, and I am part of your family, hence I will be your head to oversee you.”

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) accepting to be the head and oversee their affairs (i.e. the affairs of the Banu Najjaar tribe) is enumerated as one of the great merits and virtues of this tribe. The people of this tribe considered this to be a great source of pride for them, that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioned that he would be their head.

3. In the same year, two chieftains of the disbelievers of Makkah Mukarramah died i.e. Waleed bin Mugheerah and Aas bin Waa’il. Aas bin Waa’il was the father of Hazrat Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) who was the conqueror of Egypt.

4. In the same year, eight months after arriving in Madinah Munawwarah, in the month of Shawwaal, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) consummated his marriage with Hazrat Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) with whom he had performed nikaah before hijrah, after the demise of Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu ‘anha). At the time of her nikaah, Hazrat Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) was six or seven years old, and she was nine years old when she went to live with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Some Ulama are of the opinion that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) consummated his marriage with her eighteen months after hijrah in the second year.

5. When the Muslims arrived in Madinah Munawwarah after the hijrah, the water of all the wells of Madinah Munawwarah was bitter. Only one well, called ‘the well of Roomah’, had sweet water. The owner of this well was a Jew who would not provide its water to people unless they paid for it. This caused difficulty for the poor Muslims. Hazrat Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) purchased this well from its owner and sold it to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in exchange for a river in Jannah. He donated it for the benefit of the all the Muslims. Whichever Muslim wished, he could benefit from its water.
