17. If one wishes to hear a Deeni discourse over a CD, radio, receiver etc. then it is important for one to first find out the reliability of the person who had delivered the discourse as well as the subject matter that had been discussed. Not exercising caution in this regard leads to confusion being created in one’s Deen.
Hazrat Muhammed bin Seereen (rahimahullah) had stated, “Indeed this knowledge is your Deen, so be careful from whom you acquire your Deen.”
15. When the blessed name of Hazrat Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is mentioned in the Deeni discourse or in any gathering, then it is waajib (compulsory) for one to recite durood upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Thereafter, whenever the blessed name of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is taken, it is mustahab (preferable) to recite durood. [1]

Sunnats of Sitting in a Deeni Discourse – Part One
Written by user21. One should be seated in a deeni discourse with the correct intention. The intention one needs to have is to acquire the love of Allah Ta‘ala, His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum). Similarly, one should have the intention of learning Deen, implementing it in one’s life and thereafter imparting it to others. One should not sit in the talk with the mere intention of entertainment or just to increase one’s knowledge.
2. One should sit with complete and utmost respect during the deeni discourse.
29. While in the Musjid, remain constantly engaged in the zikr of Allah Ta‘ala.
Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Soon a time will come upon the ummah where nothing of Islam will remain except in names (i.e. people will have Islamic names but no Islamic values), and nothing of the Qur’aan will remain except its words. Their masaajid will be built in a beautiful manner but will be void of guidance (i.e. people will not perform salaah in it).”

26. Remain calm while seated in the Musjid and do not be unmindful of the sanctity of the place. Some people whilst waiting for salaah fidget with their clothing or play with their cellphones. This is against the honour and respect of the Musjid.
And whoever holds in honour the symbols of Allah, indeed such (honour) comes from the piety of the heart.
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His Masaajid and strive towards their destruction. It is not fitting for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.
22. It is not permissible to remove any of the Musjid’s items or goods for one’s personal use.[1]

Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Busr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on one occasion a person entered the Musjid on the day of Jumu‘ah while Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was delivering the khutbah.
