In the Ahaadith, great rewards have been promised for the one who fasts. The fasting person has a very high status in the sight of Allah Ta‘ala.

The Smell Emanating from the Mouth of the Fasting Person is Beloved to Allah Ta‘ala

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The smell which emanates from the mouth of a fasting person is more beloved in the sight of Allah Ta‘ala than the fragrance of musk.” [1]

Fasting is a Shield against Sins

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said that Allah Ta‘ala says, “Fasting is for My sake and I will give the reward for it. He (the fasting person) leaves out his desires (i.e. eating and drinking and having relations) for My sake. Fasting is a shield (from sins). For the fasting person, there are two times of happiness; one is at the time of iftaar, and the other is at the time he meets his Rabb. The smell which emanates from the mouth of a fasting person is more beloved in the sight of Allah Ta‘ala than the fragrance of musk.” [2]

The Dua of a Fasting Person

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There are three people whose duas are not rejected; the fasting person until he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the dua of the oppressed which Allah Ta‘ala lifts above the clouds and for which He opens the doors of the heavens. Allah Ta‘ala says, ‘I take a qasm on My honour, I will definitely assist you, even though it may be after some time.’” [3]

Fasting in the Month of Ramadhaan Expiates Sins

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The person who fasts in the month of Ramadhaan solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala and for gaining His reward, all his past (minor) sins will be forgiven.” [4]

The One who Fasts in the Month of Ramadhaan becomes Pure from Sins like the Day his Mother gave Birth to him

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “This is a month in which Allah Ta‘ala has made fasting compulsory upon you, and I have made the Taraaweeh Salaah sunnah for you. The one who fasts (during this month) and stands in Taraaweeh Salaah with Imaan and the hope of attaining reward, he will be purified from his (minor) sins like the day his mother gave birth to him.” [5]
