1. Allah Ta‘ala sent many Ambiyaa (Prophets - ‘alaihimus salaam) to the world to guide mankind to the straight path. ^[1]

2. Prophethood is bestowed by the divine selection of Allah Ta‘ala. Allah Ta‘ala selects from His servants whomsoever He wishes for this great mission. Prophethood cannot be earned by any person through his own actions and effort. ^[2]

3. A Prophet who was given a separate book and Shari’ah is called a Rasul. A Prophet who was not given a separate book and Shari’ah, but was commanded to follow the book and Shari’ah of a previous Rasul, is called a Nabi. ^[3]
