The Noble Akhlaaq of Rasulullah in Regard to the Treatment of Women and Slaves

Hazrat Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) mentioned that apart from Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) fighting in the path of Allah Ta‘ala, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) never ever hit anything with his blessed hand (whether human or animal, to cause it pain). And Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) never (ever) hit a servant (a slave serving him or a free person) nor a woman.
Commentary:
In this Hadith, Hazrat Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) explained the mubaarak and noble character of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) when dealing with the entire creation, whether human beings or animals.
She mentioned that apart from jihaad, which was the right of Allah Ta‘ala, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) never caused pain to any creation for his personal self. Even if pain was caused to him, he forgave the person who caused him pain and overlooked his ill treatment. In fact, after forgiving those who inflicted pain upon him, he never ever reminded them of their ill treatment, but showed them greater love, compassion and kindness.
Seven days after the Battle of Badr, a septic boil appeared on Abu Lahab’s body and began spreading, and this became the cause of his death.
Out of the fear that the infection should not spread to them, his family members refused to even touch his corpse. In this manner, his corpse remained where it was for three days decomposing.
Called to Enter from All the Doors of Jannah
It is reported in the Hadith that on the Day of Qiyaamah, those who excelled in actions of virtue will be honoured by Allah Ta‘ala.
If they performed abundant nafl salaah during their lives, they will be called to enter Jannah from the Door of Salaah. If they excelled in giving charity, they will be called to enter through the Door of Charity. If they excelled in keeping abundant nafl fasts, they will be called to enter through the Door of Fasting.
Testimony of Entry into Jannah
Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) possessed qualities which were so sublime that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioned that the one who possessed such qualities would enter Jannah.
Whenever the Quraish would refer to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) as Muzammam (the despised one) and speak ill of him, then Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would say, “O people! Do you not find it strange how Allah Ta‘ala has averted their insults from me? They insult me by referring to me as Muzammam, whereas I am actually Muhammed (the praised one).”
Respect for the Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) – Part Two

I was once present in the gathering of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah). While he was narrating Hadith to us, a scorpion stung him sixteen times. The facial complexion of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) began to change, however he continued teaching the Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
After the lesson was over and the students had departed, I asked him the reason for the change in his complexion during the lesson. He informed me regarding the scorpion stinging him and said, “I did not move from my place out of respect for the Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).”

The wife of Abu Lahab, Ummu Jameel bintu Harb, the sister of Hazrat Abu Sufyaan bin Harb (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), also harboured intense enmity and hostility for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). During the night, she would scatter thorns on the path of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
When Ummu Jameel learnt that a surah of the Qur’aan Majeed was revealed regarding her and her husband, she picked up a stone and rushed to strike Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). At that moment, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was with Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in Musjid-ul-Haraam.
Mis‘ar (rahimahullah) reports:
Whenever Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) would purchase anything for his family, he would spend the same amount of money which he spent on his family on the senior ‘Ulamaa of the time. Even if he purchased clothing for his family, he would purchase clothing to the same value for the ‘Ulamaa as well.
Likewise, when fruit and dates would arrive in Kufah, and he wished to purchase them for himself and his family, then he would not forget the senior ‘Ulamaa of the time. Hence, he would first purchase the fruit, dates, etc. for the ‘Ulamaa, and thereafter purchase them for his own family.

The Manner in which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) Treated those who were Harsh towards him

Hazrat Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) reports, “By nature, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was never obscene and indecent, and nor did he ever intentionally display obscenity and indecency (before any class of people), nor would Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) raise his voice while speaking or shout while in the market place. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would not retaliate by treating a person badly for the wrong which he had done to him, but instead he would forgive and pardon the person for what he had done.”
Love for the Ahl-e-Bayt
On one occasion, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mentioned, “Maintaining ties with the family of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is more beloved to me than maintaining ties with my own family.” (Saheeh Bukhaari #3712)
From this narration, it is clear that Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) loved the Ahl-e-Bayt more than he loved his own family. This was on account of the Ahl-e-Bayt being the blessed family of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Abu Lahab was his title. His name was ‘Abdul ‘Uzza bin ‘Abdil Muttalib. He was the uncle of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (the brother of Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) father).
In the very beginning, when Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) assembled the Quraish to preach the message of Islam to them, Abu Lahab was the first person to reject him saying:
تبا لك سائر اليوم ألهذا جمعتنا
May Allah destroy you! Did you assemble us here for this?
It was after this incident that Surah Lahab was revealed.
Since Abu Lahab was extremely wealthy, whenever he was warned about the punishment of Allah Ta‘ala, he would say, “If my nephew is true in his message, I will save myself from the punishment of the Day of Qiyaamah by paying money and giving my children in ransom.” The verse “Neither his wealth nor his earnings will avail him from the punishment” is referring to this statement of Abu Lahab.

Ishaaq bin Ebrahim (rahimahullah) narrates the following incident:
On one occasion, Juwain, the neighbor of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah), sent a platter of walnuts, raisins and figs to Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) as a gift. The value of this gift was not more than three dirhams (silver coins).
On receiving the gift, Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) handed me one dinar (gold coin) and instructed, “Go and buy sugar for ten dirhams, and dates for seven dirhams. Take it to the house of Juwain in the evening and present it to him as a gift from my side.”
Accordingly, I fulfilled the instruction of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) and delivered the gift in the evening.

The Method of Correcting People Adopted by Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on one occasion, a person wearing clothing which had a trace of yellow dye (from saffron or safflower) on it was seated in the mubaarak gathering of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). It was the (noble) habit of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) that he would not directly address a person (and correct him) in regard to something he disapproved of. (Therefore, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) remained silent.) Thereafter, when the person stood and left the gathering, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) addressed those who were present in the gathering saying, “It would have been better if you had told him to leave using this yellow dye (i.e. you should correct him and advise him to stop using this dye as yellow dye is only permissible for women).”
Spending on the Occasion of Tabook
On the occasion of Tabook, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) encouraged the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) to spend in the path of Allah Ta‘ala. Various Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) presented their contributions to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) according to their means.
Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had thought to himself on that occasion that he will present a great contribution and surpass Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), as this was the first time that he had received a great amount of wealth. Hence, he presented half his wealth before Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) asked him, “Did you leave anything for your family?” He replied, “Yes, O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! I left half of my entire wealth for my family.”
