Abu Muhammed, Abdus Salaam bin Abdir Rahmaan Husaini (rahimahullah), who was a Sayyid (a descendent of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)), once mentioned the following incident:

On one occasion, I was in the blessed city of Madinah Munawwarah, and a period of three days passed in which I had nothing to eat. Eventually, I went to the mimbar of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and performed two rakaats of nafl salaah. Thereafter, I addressed Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and said, “O my grandfather (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! I am experiencing hunger, and I express my desire before you to eat thareed (a dish comprising of pieces of bread, gravy and meat).”

I thereafter fell asleep, and while I was asleep, a man came to me and woke me up. On awakening, I saw that he had a wooden utensil in which was a dish of food containing thareed which was prepared with fragrant spices. He then presented the food to me and asked me to partake from it.

I asked him, “Where did you get this food from?” He replied, “For the past three days, my small children have desired to eat this dish. However, I did not possess the means to prepare it. It was only today that Allah Ta‘ala provided me with some wealth through which I was able to prepare this dish. After preparing the food, I went to sleep, and while I was asleep, I saw Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in a dream. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to me, “One of your brothers wishes to eat this dish, so give him some of it to eat.”
