Hazrat Haatim Asamm Balkhi (rahimahullah) was a pious saint who secluded himself in a room for thirty years (i.e he only left the room to perform salaah in the musjid and fulfil other deeni obligations). He did not speak to anyone except when it was absolutely necessary.
When he visited the holy grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in Madinah Munawwarah, he said, “O Allah! We have come to the grave of Your beloved (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Do not send us away from here without being forgiven!”
A voice was then heard from above saying, “Certainly! We only allowed you the chance to visit the grave of My beloved so that your du‘aas can be answered. You may now go, as We have forgiven you as well as your companions and all those who are present here.”
