It is said that a ‘Rafraf’ (i.e. a green, silken seat) was provided to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) as a conveyance. When the Rafraf came, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) sat on it, and was then conveyed to the divine presence of Allah Ta‘ala.
When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) arrived in the place of divine proximity, he fell into sajdah before Allah Ta‘ala. Here he saw the magnificence of the divine radiance of Allah Ta‘ala from beyond the divine veil, and without any intermediary, he was honoured to converse directly with Allah Ta‘ala and received wahi from Him.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “I saw the greatest noor (the noor of Allah Ta‘ala), then Allah Ta‘ala revealed to me whatever wahi He wished to reveal.”
On this occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was blessed to see Allah Ta‘ala, and also to converse directly with Allah Ta‘ala.
