Beliefs Regarding the Angels – Part Two

4. The four famous angels which are tasked with great duties are: Hazrat Jibra’eel (‘alaihis salaam), Hazrat Mikaa’eel (‘alaihis salaam), Hazrat Izraa’eel (‘alaihis salaam) and Hazrat Israafeel (‘alaihis salaam). [1]

5. Hazrat Jibra’eel (‘alaihis salaam) brought Allah Ta‘ala’s divine books, orders and messages to all the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam). At times, he was also sent to help the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam) and fight against their enemies. [2]

6. Hazrat Mikaa’eel (‘alaihis salaam) is in charge of food and rain. Other angels work under him and are in charge of controlling the clouds, the seas, the rivers and the winds. He receives orders from Allah Ta‘ala, and thereafter conveys the orders to other angels who are under his command.See 1

7. Hazrat Izraa’eel (‘alaihis salaam) is commanded by Allah Ta‘ala to extract the souls of living creatures. Numerous angels work under him. Some take away the lives of good people, in a good way, while others take away the lives of sinners and disbelievers in a terrifying way. [3]

8. Hazrat Israafeel (‘alaihis salaam) will be commanded by Allah Ta‘ala to blow the soor (trumpet) on the Day of Qiyaamah. The sound of the trumpet will cause every living creature to die and will cause everything on earth and in the skies to be destroyed. After fourty years, he will blow the trumpet for the second time, and everything will return to life with the order of Allah Ta‘ala. [4]
