History (697)
Imaam Muzani (rahimahullah) narrates the following incident:
When Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) came to Egypt, I said to myself, “If there is any person who can answer the intricate question related to ‘Aqaa’id which is in my heart and absorbing my mind, perhaps it will be him.” With this in mind, I went to Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) and found him seated in the Musjid of Egypt. When I sat before him, I said, “There is an intricate mas’alah pertaining to ‘Aqaa’id in my heart (that I wish to ask). So I said, ‘There is nobody who possesses knowledge as great as that which you possess. So inform me regarding the in depth knowledge of ‘Aqaa’id that you possess.’”
Barakah in his Wealth Even after his Demise (continued)
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continues:
Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) then began to advise me regarding his debt saying, “O my son! If you are unable to pay any portion of the debt then seek the assistance of my ‘Mowla’ in settling that portion.” By Allah! I did not understand what he meant (as the word ‘Mowla’ has different meanings) until I asked him, “O my beloved father! Who is your Mowla?” Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) answered, “Allah!” By the oath of Allah! I did not fall into any difficulty in settling his debt except that I made du‘aa saying, “O Mowla of Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)! Fulfill his debt for him!” As a result of making this du‘aa, Allah Ta‘ala would soon assist us to settle the debt.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was breastfed by his respected mother for approximately three or four days after he was born. Thereafter, he was suckled by Hazrat Suwaibah (radhiyallahu ‘anha), the freed slave of his uncle, Abu Lahab.
When Hazrat Suwaibah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) gave the glad tidings of Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) birth to his uncle, Abu Lahab, then he was so overjoyed that he immediately set her free.
Prior to feeding Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Suwaibah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) also suckled his uncle, Hazrat Hamzah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). In this manner, apart from being his uncle (father’s brother), Hazrat Hamzah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) is also Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) milk brother. After feeding Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Suwaibah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) also breastfed Hazrat Abu Salamah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu).
Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) narrates the following incident:
On one occasion, a person asked Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) whether pictures of animate objects could be kept in one’s home. Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) replied, “Pictures should not be kept in the home.”
Hearing this, a man from Iraq, who happened to be present, asked Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah), “Then how is it that there is a picture in your home?” Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) was surprised to hear this and immediately said, “I have been living in this home for such-and-such a period and I never saw the picture! (perhaps the picture was in a place that was not clearly noticeable) ” Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) then instructed the man saying, “Stand and erase the picture.” The man thus took a stick, wrapped a piece of cloth around it, and used it to rub the picture until it was completely erased.”

Barakah in his Wealth Even after his Demise
Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates:
When Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) stood on the battlefield on the Day of Jamal, he called me. When I came and stood beside him, he addressed me saying, “O my son! There is nobody who will be killed today except that he will either be an oppressor or oppressed, and my only thought regarding myself is that I will be killed today in the state that I am oppressed. Indeed, my greatest concern is definitely my debts. Do you think that our debts will leave any portion of our wealth remaining?” Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) thereafter said, “O my son! Sell our wealth and settle my debts.”
Names and Appellation of Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam)
Written by user2Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam): The name Muhammad originates from the root letters of “Hamd”. The word “Hamd” actually refers to extolling the praiseworthy character, excellent attributes and true virtues of a person, with love and honor.
اللّٰهُمَّ صل على محمد وعلى آله وصحبه و بارك وسلم
“O Allah! Shower Your special mercies upon Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and his family and companions, accompanied by blessings and peace.”
According to some people, Muhammad means, ‘that being in whom praiseworthy qualities and commendable attributes are found to the highest level of perfection’.
Ahmed bin Basheer (rahimahullah) and Hafs bin Ghiyaath (rahimahullah) have both mentioned the following:
At times, we would see a person who exerted himself in Nafl ‘Ibaadah, however we found him lacking in his knowledge of Halaal and Haraam. Similarly, at times, we would find a person to be an expert in Halaal and Haraam, however he was deficient in his Nafl ‘Ibaadah and extra devotional practices. The only exception that we had seen was Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah), as he was an embodiment of both ‘Ilm and ‘Amal. According to our estimate, in just the place where he passed away, besides other places, he recited the Qur’aan Majeed seven thousand times. During every month of Ramadhaan, he would recite the Qur’aan Majeed sixty times.
(Seerat Imaam A’zam Abu Hanifah by Ml Fazl-ur-Rahmaan A’zami pg. 144)
Name: Zubair bin ‘Awwaam bin Khuwailid bin Asad bin ‘Abdil ‘Uzzaa bin Qusayy (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) (ibn Sa’d 3/74)
Appellation: Abu ‘Abdillah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) (ibn Sa’d 3/74)
Mother’s Name: Safiyyah bint ‘Abdil Muttalib bin Haashim bin ‘Abd Manaaf bin Qusayy (radhiyallahu ‘anha) (ibn Sa’d 3/74)
While ‘Abdul Muttalib was considering the name Muhammad, due to the dream that he had seen, the mother of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saw a pious dream in which she was informed that she was carrying the most saintly creation and the leader of all nations. According to one narration, she was directed to keep his name Muhammad, and according to another narration, she was instructed to name him Ahmed.
On the seventh day after the birth of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), ‘Abdul Muttalib performed the ‘Aqeeqah and invited all the Quraish for this occasion. He then kept the child’s name Muhammad. On hearing this name, the Quraish asked, “O Abul Haarith! (This was the title of ‘Abdul Muttalib) Why did you keep such a name that was certainly not kept by your forefathers or any of your family members?” ‘Abdul Muttalib replied, “I propose to name him Muhammad (the praised one) because I want the one in the sky, Allah Ta‘ala , and His creation on the earth, to praise him.”

Maimooni (rahimahullah) mentions that Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) said the following to him, “O Abul Hasan! Beware discussing any mas’alah of Deen in which you do not have any senior to follow.”
‘Abdur Rahmaan At-Tabeeb narrates the following:
On one occasion, Imaam Ahmed bin Hambal (rahimahullah) and Bishr bin Haarith (also known as Bishr Haafi (rahimahullah)) were sick. When I would go to Bishr (rahimahullah), I would ask him, “How do you find your condition?” When replying, he would first praise Allah Ta‘ala and thereafter inform me of his condition. Hence, he would reply, “I praise Allah Ta‘ala to you. I find my condition to be such-and-such.”
Responding to the Call of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) After the Battle of Uhud
Of those who answered the call of Allah and the Messenger, even after being wounded, for those among them who do good and refrain from wrong is a great reward
Hazrat ‘Aa’ishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) mentioned the following to ‘Urwah (rahimahullah) regarding the above verse of the Qur’aan Majeed, “O my nephew! Both your fathers (ancestors), Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), were among the group regarding whom Allah Ta‘ala speaks about in this verse. When difficulty had befallen Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) on the Day of Uhud (due to the disbelievers attacking the Muslims and thereafter) the disbelievers had departed, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) feared that they may return (to try and attack the Muslims once more). Hence, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) announced, “Who will go after them (i.e. the disbelievers)?”
The Collapse of Chosroes Palace and the Drying of Lake Saawah – Part Three
Written by user2‘Abdul Maseeh returned to Chosroes and informed him of what had transpired. Upon hearing this, Chosroes exclaimed, “The elapse of fourteen kingdoms takes a period of time, but it does not take long for time to pass.”
Ten out of the fourteen kingdoms ceased to exist in just four years and the remaining four came to an end by the time Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) became the Khalifah.
Hazrat ‘Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was born circumcised and furthermore, his navel was cut. When his grandfather ‘Abdul Muttalib, caught sight of this, he was amazed and remarked, “Verily, this son is bound to become a man of lofty status.” This is exactly what transpired.
Ishaaq bin ‘Abdillah (rahimahullah) narrates from Hazrat Aaminah that when Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was born, he was exceptionally clean and dirt-free. He did not have the normal effects of after-birth or any form of dirt on his blessed body.

The Generosity of Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) – Part One
Written by user2Abu Thowr (rahimahullah) mentions, “Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah), on account of his generosity, would very seldom hold back any wealth.”
Rabee’ bin Sulaimaan (rahimahullah) narrates:
When I made nikaah, Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) asked me, “How much of mahr did you promise your wife?” I replied, “Thirty dinaars.” Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) then asked me, “How much have you already given her?” I replied, “Six dinaars.” Imaam Shaafi‘ee (rahimahullah) thereafter ascended to his home and sent me a bag in which there were twenty four dinaars.”
