Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

I once entered my home and found my aunt (mother’s sister), Su’daa, sitting among the household. My aunt would engage in soothsaying. The moment she saw me, she said:

أبشر وحييت ثلاثا وترا      ثم ثلاثا وثلاثا أخرى

ثم بأخرى كي تتم عشرا     لقيت خيرا ووقيت شرا

نكحت والله حصانا زهرا    وأنت بكر ولقيت بكرا

Accept glad tidings and congratulations thrice, then thrice more, and then thrice more And then once more to complete ten. You have encountered goodness and have been saved from evil By Allah! You have married an extremely chaste and beautiful woman. You are a virgin and you have married a virgin.

Hazrat Khaalid (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) continued:

When my father learnt that I had embraced Islam, he beat me so severely that my head was wounded. He broke a stick on my head and said, “You are following Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) who has opposed all the people! He speaks ill of our deities and depicts our forefathers as stupid and ignorant.” I responded, “By Allah! Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is absolutely true in what he is saying!”

Hazrat Khaalid bin Sa‘eed bin ‘Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was among the first people to embrace Islam. He was either the fourth or fifth Sahaabi to accept Islam.

Before accepting Islam, he saw the following dream. He says:

I dreamt that I was standing at the edge of a broad and deep pit filled with fire. My, father, Sa‘eed, wanted to push me into the pit. Suddenly, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) appeared, held me by the waist and pulled me away. I awoke from the dream saying, “By Allah, this dream is true!” I then proceeded to Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and related the dream to him. Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “Allah Ta‘ala intends to bless you with goodness. This is the messenger of Allah. Follow him and embrace Islam. Insha Allah you will follow Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and embrace Islam, and it is your Islam that will save you from falling into the fire. However, it appears as though your father is falling into the fire.”

The Islam of Hazrat Sa’d (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)

Written by

Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

Three nights before embracing Islam, I had a dream in which I saw that I was engulfed in extreme darkness. On account of the darkness, I was unable to see anything. Suddenly, a moon appeared and I began to follow it. I then saw that Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had preceded me in reaching this light.

Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates:

Once, I travelled to Busraa for the purpose of trade. One day, I was in the market place of Busraa when I heard a monk calling out from his monastery, “Find out if there is anyone among these traders who is a resident of the Haram of Makkah Mukarramah.” I responded, “I am a resident of the Haram of Makkah Mukarramah.”

The Islam of Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)

Written by

One day, Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was standing beside Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) on the right side performing salaah with him. Coincidentally, Abu Taalib passed by with Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). When Abu Taalib saw Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) performing salaah with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he addressed Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) saying, “O son! You should also support your cousin like Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). Stand on the left of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and join them in salaah.”

Hazrat Ja’far (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was also one of the first Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) to embrace Islam. He was either the twenty first or twenty fifth person to embrace Islam.

(Extracted from Seeratul Mustafa 1/160-161)

Whenever the hour of salaah would approach, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would perform his salaah secretly in a valley or mountain pass.

On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was performing his salaah with Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in a certain mountain pass when Abu Taalib suddenly came their way. Until that time, Hazrat ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had not revealed his Islam to his parents, uncles and other relatives. Abu Taalib addressed Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) asking, “O nephew! What religion is this? What kind of worship is this?”

As soon as Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) embraced Islam, he began to invite people towards Deen. Whenever he met his close friends or they met him, he would invite them towards Islam.

As a result of his inviting to Islam, the following personalities from his friends entered the fold of Islam:

Hazrat ‘Uthmaan bin ‘Affaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat Zubair bin ‘Awwaam (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat ‘Abdur Rahmaan bin ‘Auf (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hazrat Talhah bin ‘Ubaidillah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu).

These eminent people of the Quraish and noble members of their respective families embrace Islam at the hands of Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). He thereafter brought all of them to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) where they reaffirmed their Imaan. They then joined Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) for salaah.

When all his household members accepted Islam, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) invited his intimate friends and close associates to embrace this great blessing of Islam.

The first person that he invited to bring Imaan and accept Islam was his faithful friend, his childhood acquaintance and his intimate confidant, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). Without hesitating for even a moment, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) accepted Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) invitation the moment it was extended to him.
