Disliking Sin and Abstaining from Places of Sin

Written by

Hazrat ‘Urs bin ‘Umairah Al-Kindi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “When sin is being committed in a place, then the one who is present and is not pleased with it (in another narration, it is mentioned, “he regards it to be wrong”), he will be like the one who was not present and did not witness it (i.e. he will not be sinful as being present was not of his choice), and the one who was not present where sin was being committed, yet he was pleased with the sin (and desired to be present), he will be like the one who was present where the sin was committed (i.e. he will also be sinful).”

The Sign of a Complete and Perfect Muslim

Written by

Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “A (complete and perfect) Muslim is one who is such that other Muslims are safe from the harm of his tongue and hand (i.e. people are not inconvenienced through him in any way).”

Note: The word ‘Muslim’ is derived from the word ‘Islam’ which connotes submission and obedience to Allah Ta‘ala. One of the root words of the word Muslim is ‘salm’ which means ‘showing peace’. Hence, the meaning of this Hadith is that a complete and perfect Muslim is one fulfills the command of Allah Ta‘ala at all times and is a means of peace and mercy to the creation. He is concerned at all times of not causing even the least amount of inconvenience to the entire creation.

Since the harm that comes to people is generally caused through the tongue and hand, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) made special mention of these two limbs.

The Eight Doors of Jannah

Written by

Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever performs a perfect wudhu and then recites the following dua, the eight doors of Jannat are opened for him and he may enter from whichever door he wishes:

I testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allah who is alone and has no partner, and I testify that Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is His slave and messenger. O Allah! Make me be among those who constantly repent and among those who are extremely pure.”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Every person in my ummah will enter Jannah, except those who refuse.” The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) asked, “O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Who are those who refuse?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Those who obey me (believe in me and follow my way) will enter Jannah (forever), and those who disobey me (they do not believe in me) have refused (hence they will remain in Jahannum forever).”

The Blessing of Sabr

Written by

Hazrat Ebrahim bin Mahdi As-Sulami (rahimahullah) narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, who was a Sahaabi of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “When Allah Ta‘ala wishes to bless a servant with a high rank that has been decreed for him (in Jannah), but the servant is unable to reach this high rank through his deeds and efforts, then Allah Ta‘ala brings about tests in his life and body, wealth, or his children. Allah Ta‘ala then blesses him with the taufeeq of sabr and enables him to exercise patience over this test, until Allah Ta‘ala causes him to reach the rank which Allah Ta‘ala had decreed for him.”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) report that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There are seven categories of people whom Allah Ta‘ala will enter into His special shade (i.e. the shade of His throne) on the day when there will be no shade besides His shade; the just leader, the youth who grew up in the worship and obedience of Allah Ta‘ala, the man whose heart would remain attached to the musjid, the two men who used to love each other, meet each other and separate from one another for the sake of (gaining) Allah’s love, the man whom a woman of high status and exceptional beauty invited to commit zina, yet he refrained and said, ‘I fear Allah’, the man who gave some sadaqah and concealed it, to the extent that his left hand did not know what his right hand had spent, and the man who remembered Allah Ta‘ala in seclusion and shed tears (out of the love and fear of Allah Ta‘ala).”

The Reward of Suppressing One’s Anger

Written by

Hazrat Mu‘aaz bin Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever suppresses his anger, despite being able to vent and express it, Allah Ta‘ala will call him before the entire creation on the Day of Qiyaamah and honor him to the point where He will allow him to choose whichever maiden of Jannah he desires.”
