Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) presented the beauty of Islam to us, and asked me, “O Rifaa’ah! Tell me, who created the earth, the skies and mountains?” We replied, “Allah Ta‘ala created them.”
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then asked, “Who is more worthy of being worshipped; the Creator or the created?” We replied, “The Creator.”
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then said, “In that case, you are more entitled to be worshipped by these idols, while you should worship Allah, because you made these idols while you were created by Allah. I am inviting you to the worship of one Allah. Believe in the oneness of Allah and worship Him alone. Accept me as the Rasul and Nabi of Allah. Maintain family ties and refrain from oppression and transgression.”
To this, I replied, “Undoubtedly, you have invited us towards outstanding qualities and sublime character.”
I then rose from there and proceeded to the Haram where I loudly proclaimed, “I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship besides Allah and that Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is the Rasul of Allah.”
