Sufi Abu ‘Abdillah, Muhammed bin Abi Zar’ah (rahimahullah), mentions:

I once traveled to Makkah Mukarramah with my father and with Abu ‘Abdillah Khafif (rahimahullah). While in the Holy City, we suffered great hunger. Thereafter, in that poor condition, we traveled to Madinah Munawwarah. We slept without any food, on empty stomachs.
