عن أبي برزة الأسلمي قال: قلت: يا رسول الله دلني على عمل يدخلني الجنة قال: أمط الأذى عن طريق الناس (الأدب المفرد، الرقم: 228)

Hazrat Abu Barzah Aslami (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports: I once said (to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)), “O Rasul of Allah! Please show me such an action which will cause me to enter Jannah!” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Remove harmful objects from the path of the people.”

In another narration, Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “While a man was walking on the road, he found a thorny branch lying on the road. He then removed the branch from the road. Allah appreciated this action and forgave him.” (Saheeh Bukhaari #652 & Saheeh Muslim #1914)

In this Hadith, we see that removing a harmful object from the pathway is an action that is pleasing to Allah Ta‘ala and a means of gaining forgiveness from Allah Ta‘ala.
