4. Console the sick and give him encouragement and hope of his recovery.

Hazrat ibn 'Abbaas (radhiallahu 'anhuma) reports that once Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) visited a sick villager, and whenever he would visit the sick he used to recite the following duaa:

Do not grieve (do not worry), Insha Allah through this sickness you will obtain purity (from your sins)

5. It is incorrect for the doctor to inform the patient that there is no hope left for him in any given situation.

Hazrat Abu Sa'eed Khudri (radhiallahu 'anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: “When you visit a sick person, then give him encouragement and hope of life, for indeed giving him hope (and lifting his spirits) will not change taqdeer. However, it will be a means of bringing happiness and comfort to him.”
