5. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has mentioned in the mubaarak Hadith that one should comb his hair every second day. The reason for this teaching is so that a man does not make his purpose in life beautifying himself. However, it is also recorded in the Hadith that the one whose hair has grown long and he is in need of combing it every day, then in order to keep himself tidy and look presentable before people, he may comb it every day.

عن عبد الله بن مغفل قال : نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الترجل إلا غبا (سنن الترمذي رقم 1756)

Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mughaffal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports, “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) discouraged (a male) combing the hair except on alternate days.”

عن أبي قتادة قال : كانت له جمة ضخمة فسأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأمره أن يحسن إليها وأن يترجل كل يوم (سنن النسائي رقم 5237)

Hazrat Abu Qataadah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that he had thick, long hair. He asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) regarding (combing) it. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) instructed him to look after it and to comb it every day.”
