When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) reached Busraa, he sat in the shade of a tree. A monk by the name of Nastoora lived in that area. On seeing Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) beneath this tree, he approached him and said, “From Hazrat ‘Isa bin Maryam (‘alaihis salaam) until this moment, no prophet besides you has sat beneath this tree.” He then remarked to Maysarah, “He (Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)) has this redness in his eyes.” Maysarah replied, “This redness never leaves his eyes.”

The monk said:

هو هو وهو نبي وهو آخر الأنبياء

“Yes, surely this is the same Prophet. This is the final Messenger of Allah Ta‘ala.”

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) thereafter engaged in trade. During this time, a person started arguing with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). While arguing, the man said to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “Swear an oath by the idols of Laat and ‘Uzza.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “I have never taken an oath by Laat and ‘Uzza. In fact, even if I incidentally pass by these idols, I do so while turning away from them and staying far from them.” Hearing this, the man replied, “Undoubtedly, you are right.” In other words, you are truthful and trustworthy. The man then commented, “By Allah! This is the man whose description and qualities our ‘Ulama find recorded in their manuscripts.”

Maysarah says, “During the afternoon, when the heat would be intense, I would notice two angels shading Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).”
