Hazrat ‘Abdullah (rahimahullah), the son of Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah), narrates the following, “I saw my father take a strand from the blessed hair of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), place it on his lips and kiss it. I also remember seeing him place it on his eyes, and place it in water after which he drank the water, hoping for shifaa (cure and blessings).”

Hazrat Marroozi (rahimahullah) narrates, “Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) once said to me, ‘Every Hadith that I had written, I had endeavored to practice upon it, to the extent that I learnt the Hadith wherein in is mentioned that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) underwent cupping and thereafter gave Hazrat Abu Taibah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), the person who had carried out the cupping, a dinar (gold coin). In order to practice on this Hadith, I gave a dinar to Hajjaaj (the person who carried out the cupping on Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah)) when I underwent cupping.’”

(Siyar A’laam min Nubalaa vol. 9 pg. 457)

Note: These two incidents highlight the deep love that Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah) had for Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam). Hence, we notice that he endeavored to practise on even those Ahaadith that related to aspects of the mubaarak life of Rasulullah (sallallau ‘alaihi Wasallam) which did not pertain to the laws of Shari’ah itself.
