Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who fears (the attack of the enemy) will set out at the beginning of the night (and travel through the night), and the one who sets out at the beginning of the night (and travels through the night) will reach his destination safely (and gain protection from the enemy). Remember! The goods of Allah Ta‘ala are extremely valuable! Remember! The goods of Allah Ta‘ala are Jannah!”

In this Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has explained the example of a person who fears the attack of the enemy and hence leaves the town wherein the fear of the enemy is anticipated. He sets out at the beginning of the night and continues to travel in hope of reaching his destination safely. Similarly, the person who is travelling towards the Hereafter is always wary of the attacks of shaitaan and the nafs. Hence, he should also remain constantly vigilant and take steps to escape the danger zone of shaitaan and the nafs.

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then explained that the goods of Allah Ta‘ala, which Allah Ta‘ala is offering to us, are the goods of Jannah which are most valuable. When these goods are the most valuable, we should be prepared to pay the highest price for them.
