عن أسماء بنت يزيد قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من ذب عن عرض أخيه بالغيبة كان حقا على الله أن يعتقه من النار (مجمع الزوائد، الرقم: 13150)

Hazrat Asmaa bint Yazeed (radhiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who defends the honor of his brother in his absence (i.e. defends him when people are engaging in gheebah regarding him), then Allah Ta‘ala takes it upon Himself to free him from the fire of Jahannum.”
