As for the first part of the kalimah, by one believing in the oneness of Allah Ta‘ala one testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship besides Allah Ta‘ala. Similarly, one testifies to Allah Ta‘ala’s oneness in his being and in all his attributes. One accepts that he is the only creator and only being worthy of worship and he is alone in all his attributes (giving life and death, wealth and poverty, success and failure, etc). Everything, in entirety, lies in his hands alone.

When we understand that he is responsible for our existence and continuity and he regulates and manages the affairs of every creation, from the point of its existence until the point of its death, allowing it to grow from strength to strength and progress through various stages of development and he is the sole being responsible for managing the affairs of the heavens and earth, bringing about the alternation of night and day, the sun, moon, stars and solar system all function by his command and the entire universe is totally and entirely dependent upon him, we will realize that he is the only being who is worthy of worship and it is incumbent upon us to carry out all his commands.
